This Introduction to the core concepts of mindful eating is a 6-hour workshop for healthcare professionals.

Based on Donald Altman's "12-Weeks to Mindful Eating Program," this workshop is designed for dietitians, therapists, nurses, psychologists, and others who work with disordered eating clients. The training covers the key areas for bringing mindfulness interventions into work with patients struggling with compulsive overeating, self-care issues (such as diabetics), bulimia, and other eating issues.

Steps to Mindful Eating is available as BOTH a telephone conference group (1-hour a week for six weeks, and as a 1-day workshop-- SEE BELOW.

Topics covered include:

  • Demographics and etiology of disordered eating

  • Who is appropriate for a mindful eating program?

  • The importance of introducing Patients to the Acceptance and Commitment Model of Change

  • Understanding Food Static, Hunger

  • Normalizing eating with the "7-Steps of Normal and Mindful Eating"

  • Reducing the stress that causes relapse with toosl such as Mindful Breath and "B-E T-H-I-S" Body Sense Grounding

  • Exercises for identifying stress-triggering Chaos and how to Create Space Within
